Dear Stakeholders and Visitors,

It is with great pleasure that I extend warm greetings to all our valued stakeholders, business partners, and visitors to the VOC Port website.

Strategically located on the southeast coast of India, V.O. Chidambaranar Port continues to be one of the fastest-growing ports in the country, playing a vital role in India’s maritime trade and economic progress. During the fiscal year 2024–25, we achieved a remarkable milestone by handling 41.72 million tonnes of cargo and 7,95,222 TEUs of containers, reaffirming our status as a major trade gateway to the southern region.

Over the past year, the Port has significantly enhanced its infrastructure with the commissioning of new terminals — including the TICT container terminal and the JSW bulk cargo terminal — as well as expansion of the turning circle to accommodate larger vessels. Additional developments such as the new multipurpose berth at Berth-7, the link conveyor system, and the Direct Port Entry (DPE) facility for export containers have further strengthened our operational capabilities.

Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans for the current fiscal year. These include the construction of Berth-10 and North Cargo Berth-4 for bulk cargo, strengthening of Berths 3, 4, and 7, and the widening of the Port’s entrance channel. Plans are also underway to establish shipbuilding and repair facilities, paving the way for VOC Port to evolve into a comprehensive maritime hub.

I am also proud to share that VOC Port is taking bold steps in advancing its Green Port mission. We have successfully completed a pilot green hydrogen project, now powering several streetlights and an electric vehicle charging station. In our pursuit of sustainability, we have introduced ‘No Smoking’ and ‘No Plastic’ policies across all Port facilities and are upgrading our administrative office to meet green certification standards. Our renewable energy roadmap includes ongoing solar and battery storage projects, along with a proposed 6 MW wind power project.

As we continue this journey of growth and transformation, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all our customers, partners, and the wider maritime community for their unwavering trust and support. Together, we are building a greener, smarter, and more resilient future for VOC Port.

Warm regards,
